SHARE WASTE - RECYCLING OF ORGANIC MATERIALS

SHARE WASTE - RECYCLING OF ORGANIC MATERIALS

The separation of organic waste is often not an optimised public service, so most of the bio-waste ends up in municipal waste. This is the problem that a couple from Newton, Sydney, have addressed and have come up with the idea of Share Waste.

Share Waste is all about connecting people who want to recycle their food waste and organic materials. Organic waste can be dropped off to people who already compost, worm farm or keep livestock. You can register as an individual or as an organisation, you can be a compost collector or a compost donor. Once registered, you can see on the apps map where are the compost collectors you can take your organic waste to, and who collects green waste and would like to dump it. Compost collectors can be individuals, but they can also register as community sites. The latter can be community gardens or public institutions such as schools.

Share Waste works in any modern web browser, but a free mobile app is now available.
