The project aimed at making a busy pedestrian crossing without traffic lamps safer, to avoid accidents and increase perceived safety for locals. Sensors were installed at both sides on the pavement sending signals to the LED lamps by the crossing. The lamps flash white light to warn approaching drivers about pedestrians' right-of-way even if there are no traffic lights to stop or slow cars.
