Madame Mayor I have an idea

To build a fair, progressive and sustainable city, knowledge of the local community is one of the greatest resources and the most important means of exchanging and discussing thoughts. This requires the city's tools to help city dwellers easily contribute to larger and smaller projects. The aim of the "Madame Mayor, I Have an Idea" digital platform is to encourage the widest possible and open participation.

Urban Forest Visual

The City of Melbourne maintains more than 70,000 trees. To manage them they launched the Melbourne Urban Forest Visual project which is a web-based map that gave every tree in the city an individual ID, as well as noting the species and probable life expectancy. The mapping site invited residents to report dying, damaged or vandalised trees so that they could be repaired or replaced.

Decide Madrid

The open consultation and direct democracy platform was launched by the city of Madrid after the recent municipal elections. Enables citizens to propose, debate priorities and implement policy for the city. On the website citizens can create a thread where they can discuss any topic they want to share with other people in the city, and can propose what they want the City Council to do and support proposals from other people. Citizen proposals that reach 1% of support will be put to a vote. The first six months of each year citizens can decide how to spend part of the city budget.

Share Hub

Share Hub is a project powered by Creative Commons Korea. Share Hub brings news and information related to sharing activities in Korea on ShareHub.kr. Share Hub also provides a directory of various sharing services and projects happening in Korea like a phone book for easy browsing on Korean sharing movement. Finally, Share Hub runs on and off line campaigns and seminars in order to raise awareness and engage general public participation on sharing.

Better Reykjavík

Better Reykjavík is an online consultation forum where citizens are given the chance to present their ideas on issues regarding services and operations of the City of Reykjavík. Anyone can view the open forum and registered users who approve the terms of participation can participate in the forum. When a user presents an idea on the Better Reykjavík forum, it is automatically considered the public property of the residents of Reykjavík and the original idea can change considerably during the consultative process provided on this forum.

CITYkeys (EU program to the cities performance indicators)

The CITYkeys project will adresses the horizontal challenges: The current transition to low carbon, resource-efficient cities is moving slowly. Innovative and smart solutions are available but uptake in other cities is low, because the impacts of the smart city solutions are not objectively verified and because of lack of confidence that the solutions can also be applied in other contexts and cities.

Open Living Labs

The European Network of Living Labs (ENoLL) is the international federation of benchmarked Living Labs in Europe and worldwide. Founded in November 2006 under the auspices of the Finnish European Presidency, the network has grown in ‘waves’ up to this day. ENoLL counts today over 170 active Living Labs members worldwide (395 historically recognised over 9 years), including active members in 20 of the 28 EU Member States, 2 of the candidates and it is present in 5 continents in addition to Europe.

Urban-Knowledge is an open platform dedicated to compile an innovative and effective system of methods and techniques for urban expertise through a knowledge platform. The Urban-Knowledge platform wants to strengthen the expertise of the urban professionals and facilitate their learning and development paths by increasing their understanding skills on the applications of existing and innovative urban analysis methods.
