Smart Living

Google Smart Lens (smart blood glucose measurement)

We’re now testing a smart contact lens that’s built to measure glucose levels in tears using a tiny wireless chip and miniaturized glucose sensor that are embedded between two layers of soft contact lens material. We’re testing prototypes that can generate a reading once per second. We’re also investigating the potential for this to serve as an early warning for the wearer, so we’re exploring integrating tiny LED lights that could light up to indicate that glucose levels have crossed above or below certain thresholds.

GlucoTel (smart blood glucose measurement)

GlucoTel is a diabetes management system.  With that, blood sugar levels can be monitored and recorded in an individual online diary. The application from the partner BodyTel automatically broadcasts test readings wirelessly per Bluetooth to a monitoring station – for example, a patient’s own cell phone – and from there to a secure online database. In the event of deviations from the set values, a caregiver will be immediately informed.

Mobile patient visit

Patients regularly transmit their vital details such as blood pressure, heart rate and body weight to the hospital via their TV. The data is sent wirelessly via a secure network to the hospital where it is automatically analyzed by a computer. If the data gives cause for concern, the system immediately contacts the medical staff. Patients require a set-top box for the TV, broadband access, a digital set of scales and a blood pressure monitor for the operation of the monitoring system.

Healthcare Mobile Service (e-health platform)

Hungarian Telecom developed an e-health platform which is linked to the citizens for various mobile-based health services. The patient using a smartphone or tablet easily can sign up and be ready for tests. The mobile device sends a notification about the testing and unexpected changes and helping them navigate within the hospital. It makes health data and records available for patients and it enables personalized access to information about the disease, medications and healthy lifestyle.

Smart Care Management (health data management)

Synthesize knowledge and analyze large, complex care-related data sets to identify those at risk. Manage information that spans multiple stakeholders, including wellness, health and social care organizations. Deliver proactive, individualized care that eliminates unnecessary and preventable inpatient hospital admissions and readmissions. Highlight the most effective evidence-based care protocols for greater economic value and reduced waste. Collaborate over boundaries, including organizational, bureaucratic and technological, to enable individual and population health.

Taipei Telecare Services

Taipei Telecare takes advantage of information and communication technology such as telemedicine and telecare, mobile applications and localized services. Taipei citizens – particularly those who live in remote areas, the elderly who live alone, as well as middle‐and low‐income households – may use the 1999 Citizen Hotline to access medical video conferencing service at the Healthcare Customer Center for distance measurement on blood pressure, blood sugar, body temperature and cardiac rhythm, and able to print out their physiology measurements at convenient store kiosks.

Telehealth Services

Telehealth is the consistent and accurate monitoring of a patient’s vital signs and symptoms via easy to use technology in their home. Patients take their readings and answer a series of health questions each day and the information is transmitted to a monitoring centre where technical triage personnel will verify the results and only alert a clinician if the data is outside of the parameters set for that individual patient.
