A new bike sharing system that is unique in the whole of Hungary has been established by Student Self-Government of the University of Debrecen on the campuses of our institution.
“From idea to product, it took 18 months altogether to install the cycle hiring scheme at the university. The plan now is to expand the currently available four docking stations and ninety bikes in circulation in the future by adding Hittudományi Egyetem [Debrecen’s Reformed Theological University] to the network of cycle hire routes,” said Chancellor Zoltán Bács. The system named Unibike can be accessed by any DEKA cardholder, including students as well as teaching and non-teaching staff (cards may be applied for at the webpage dekakartya.unideb.hu free of charge). It costs HUF 200 for 30 minutes to hire a bike, and the first 30 minutes of each journey is free, while you can also purchase 6-month or 12-month bike passes for HUF 3 thousand or 5 thousand.
