The Sharing Cities ‘lighthouse’ programme is a proving ground for a better, common approach to making smart cities a reality. By fostering international collaboration between industry and cities, the project seeks to develop affordable, integrated, commercial-scale smart city solutions with a high market potential. The project partners work in close cooperation with the European Innovation Partnership on Smart Cities and Communities and with other `lighthouse` consortia. The demonstration districts in the ‘lighthouse’ cities of Lisbon, London and Milan have implemented replicable urban digital solutions and collaborative models. Sharing Cities has ambitions to share the knowledge and experience of its lighthouse cities with other cities interested in replication and scale-up. The 'fellow' cities of Bordeaux, Burgas and Warsaw have been working in partnership with the lighthouse cities on solutions that have strong potential to be replicated within their own city.
