Virtual power plant in Rheintal region

Virtual power plants pool energy from a broad variety of plant types and forward it to the distribution networks that are connected to them. To do this, they must be able to strike a balance between the over- and under-supply of power that occurs when renewable sources of energy are used. For this reason, most combined power plants are equipped with energy storage systems.

Smart Urban Logistic in Austria

The aim of the “Smart Urban Logistics” initiative is to build up an Austrian networking platform to boost and promote intelligent solutions in the field of urban logistics. The intention is to make stakeholders aware of the topic, to create acceptance for innovative technologies, to initiate a communication process, to support further discussions and to be the incentive for the start of pilot projects that help to design future cities.

Austrian Mobile Power

Austrian Mobile Power was established in 2009 as a platform to promote electric mobility within, and from, Austria. With members drawn from a wide range of industries, they represent concentrated know-how in the vehicle, infrastructure and energy sectors, technology providers and industry associations, all under a single roof. They have set ourselves the goal of networking relevant players in politics and business and to jointly generate ideas to drive electric mobility in Austria, both at product and service level and through public relations activities.

Lilium Jet - Air Taxi

Lilium enables you to travel 5 times faster than a car by introducing the world’s first all-electric vertical take-off and landing jet: an air taxi for up to 5 people. You won’t have to own one, you will simply pay per ride and call it with a push of a button. It’s our mission to make air taxis available to everyone and as affordable as riding a car. Quiet electric vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) is the technology that will change travel forever. It enables you to access city centres with an aircraft.

Tel-O-Fun

Tel-O-Fun is a bike sharing service in Tel Aviv. With 2,000 bicycles, 200 stations and 130 Km of riding lanes, Tel-O-Fun green bikes have become a natural transportation choice for locals and tourists, and it's available 24/7. The project aims to reduce air pollution, create a friendly atmosphere in the city, and encourage physical activity and fitness.

CITYLAB

Goods, waste and service trips in urban areas impose negative traffic and environmental impacts, and there is a need for cost-effective and sustainable solutions. The CITYLAB objective is to develop knowledge and solutions that result in up-scaling and roll-out of strategies, measures and tools for emission-free city logistics in urban centres by 2030.

SMART-MR

Transportation in urban areas, particularly metropolitan regions, generates congestion and vast greenhouse gas emissions and thus imposes enormous challenges upon authorities in providing healthy living conditions for inhabitants and a supportive environment for businesses. Thus, the overall objective of the SMART-MR is to support local and regional authorities in improving transport policies and providing sustainable measures for achieving resilient low-carbon transportation and mobility in metropolitan regions.

ZeEUS

Testing electrification solutions at the heart of the urban bus system network through live demonstrations and facilitating the market uptake of electric buses in Europe. ZeEUS, the Zero Emission Urban Bus System, aims to be the flagship EU project to extend the fully-electric solution to the core part of the urban bus network. It follows on recommendations from fellow UITP European bus system projects [EBSF and 3iBS] to apply the electric solution to urban bus systems.

Cycle Logistics

Running from May 2014 until April 2017 Cyclelogistics builds on the success of and the lessons learnt from the Cylcelogistics project. The main aim of the project is to reduce energy consumption and emissions from freight transport in urban areas by triggering near zero emission logistics applications across Europe.  The European Cyclelogistics Federation, founded during the forerunner project, will play a vital part in reaching this goal.

CH4LLENGE

The CH4LLENGE project supported mobility practitioners in improving local transport planning processes and developing quality Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans. It addressed the four most pressing challenges in sustainable urban mobility planning: participation, cooperation, measure selection as well as monitoring and evaluation. CH4LLENGE carried out innovative SUMP pilot projects, offered a comprehensive training programme for mobility practitioners and developed a wide range of new SUMP knowledge resources. Key project outcomes are captured in the Results section.
