Following a state of emergency declaration, the Portuguese Government has put in place several measures of a temporary and exceptional nature aiming at containing the spread of the COVID-19 virus while maintaining, as far as possible, the operability of the public entities to ensure the continuity of public services’ provision. It is important to clarify that the measures adopted by DGAEP, as a public body, reflect the political guidelines embodied in various pieces of legislation published in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 3D LiDAR-based Smart Safety School Zone solution actively monitors the movement of objects—including people and vehicles—in crosswalks to protect pedestrian safety and prevent accidents. In the deployment in Seoul, South Korea, M-Series LiDAR sensors from Quanergy are installed at school crosswalks in the local government of Nowon-Gu. The sensors gather real-time data about the surrounding environment including patterns in vehicle traffic, vehicle speed, pedestrian numbers, and more.

Karimnagar Municipal Corporation in Telangana has deployed the costumized Marut Drones for spraying disinfectants in Mukarumpur area of Karimnagar where people were tested positive for COVID-19. Disinfectants were also sprayed at district collaborate, municipal coorporation, district hospital, bus stations and markets.

CoVER (COVID-19 emergency response platform) is an integrated command and control centre for crisis management.
CoVER leverages artificial intelligence (AI) to power its predictive analytics engine to crunch the data from the outbreak, analyze and visualize it to identify and highlight important patterns and trends to predict the next breakout areas so that appropriate prevention strategies can be actioned.

Hasuri Ausanpur village has 23 Wi-Fi hotspots and 23 CCTV cameras for its population of just over 1,000. It even has a website that features the GIS map of the entire village — agricultural land, grazing land, networks of roads and canals.

Road Id bracelets were invented for people who are usually playing sports alone (e.g., running, biking, riding, climbing a wall, walking a dog). Customers can request different information on the labels: medical history, allergies, contact information, etc., so it can be easier to reach relatives and facilitate medical care in various accidents. Labels can be easily applied to different types of smart bracelets, or even shoes, animal collars. Their mission is two-fold: One, to educate outdoor enthusiasts about the importance of wearing ID.

River Edge Park is a vibrant, year round concert venue located along the Fox River just blocks from downtown and the train station, which boasts a river walk, bike paths and a pier. The City has committed integrating the park's infrastructure with technology to better position city officials and staff to keep track of crowds, provide better security and monitor parking security and availability. The park includes smart solutions such as smart kiosks, smart parking (lot occupancy, dynamic pricing), video analytics (crowd counting), smart lighting and wifi locations.

Masabi, the company bringing Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) ticketing and payments to public transport, and Jorudan, Japan’s leading trip planning service, announced that they have launched mobile ticketing within the Jorudan app. More than 10 million users throughout Japan are now able to plan their journey, book their seats and buy Syoei Express Bus tickets directly from Jorudan’s Norikae Annai app and then use their phone to ride bus services. Jorudan will also be adding ticketing for further transport operators in the coming months.

The City of Adelaide is the first Council in South Australia to trial iTouch – a new contactless pedestrian push button control.  Supplied by Australian company Aldridge Traffic Systems, the units are being trialled at the pedestrian actuated signals on Melbourne Street in North Adelaide.

Aldridge Traffic Systems also produces a product called iTouch+ which is a pedestrian time-extender allowing seniors and disability cardholders to tap their card onto a sensor to extend crossing time. Council is looking into the feasibility of these products.

The Flooded Roads Smart Warning System (FRSWS) project uses smart technology to provide both proactive and reactive mechaims to enhance road safety during flood episodes. The FRSWS minimises the risk of drivers inadvertantly driving into flooded roads by using advance warning signs that only activate in flood conditions. The innovative design and programming of these signs allows real time mapping and information for each road location with a FRSWS to be provided to disaster management entities and the community through a range of communication methods.
