We’re now testing a smart contact lens that’s built to measure glucose levels in tears using a tiny wireless chip and miniaturized glucose sensor that are embedded between two layers of soft contact lens material. We’re testing prototypes that can generate a reading once per second. We’re also investigating the potential for this to serve as an early warning for the wearer, so we’re exploring integrating tiny LED lights that could light up to indicate that glucose levels have crossed above or below certain thresholds.

GlucoTel is a diabetes management system.  With that, blood sugar levels can be monitored and recorded in an individual online diary. The application from the partner BodyTel automatically broadcasts test readings wirelessly per Bluetooth to a monitoring station – for example, a patient’s own cell phone – and from there to a secure online database. In the event of deviations from the set values, a caregiver will be immediately informed.

The term iBeacon and Beacon are often used interchangeably. iBeacon is the name for Apple’s technology standard, which allows Mobile Apps (running on both iOS and Android devices) to listen for signals from beacons in the physical world and react accordingly. In essence, iBeacon technology allows Mobile Apps to understand their position on a micro-local scale, and deliver hyper-contextual content to users based on location. The underlying communication technology is Bluetooth Low Energy.

The Smart Citizen Kit was devised out of growing concerns of citizens about the quality of their air. The difference between this Kit and other measuring tools is the active involvement of ‘ordinary people’ in the measuring process. In this project, Waag Society and Amsterdam Smart City want to install a network of sensors all through Amsterdam. The Kit can measure humidity, noise pollution, temperature, CO, NO2 and light intensity. Participants fasten the Kit somewhere outside their house, e.g. outside their window, or on their balcony.

TeamViewer is compatible with multiple platforms, including Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, iOS, and Android. TeamViewer allows a user to access another computer remotely using a web browser. TeamViewer was founded in Uhingen, Germany in 2005. It is designed to work either by installing it on a computer or running a "Quick Support" version that does not require installation.
