Hong Kong GeoData Store

Hong Kong GeoData Store is a geospatial information service provided by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government to the general public, with a vision to build a better society by developing an open geospatial information collaboration platform to improve the quality of life and efficiency in urban management.  Hong Kong GeoData Store facilitates the discovery and dissemination of various types of spatial-enabled Public Sector Information (PSI) in open format and API for free re-use for both commercial and non-commercial purposes.  Let us build a smart city together.

Geospatial information underpins our daily activities.  To cater public’s aspiration for convenient access to official digital map and geospatial information, the Lands Department has started to provide the GeoInfo Map (www.map.gov.hk) service – an online common geospatial information platform integrating over 270 types of facility information from 29 Government Bureaux and Departments for convenient access by the public through the Internet since 2010.  Later in 2014, the Lands Department initiated and developed the MyMapHK mobile map app for free use by the general public, providing an on-the-go access to maps and integrated facility information for smartphone users.  In view of the uprising spatial awareness and the public’s needs for open data, LandsD further developed this Hong Kong GeoData Store service as a pilot run.
