Alabama Power’s Smart Neighborhood is a future-focused, energy-efficient community with homes that are rated 35 percent more efficient than standard Alabama homes being built today. Located in Alabama, smart Neighborhood integrates high-performance homes, energy efficient systems and appliances, connected devices and a microgrid on a community-wide scale for the first time in the Southeast.
Due to historical, political and economic difficulties in living, a large part of the working population has moved out of the village. In 2008 the mayor introduced the concept that most of the municipal taxes would be released if a business moved its headquarters to Komlóska. Thus, businesses that moved to Komlóska were exempt from business, construction, tourism and communal taxes, basicly they have created a tax haven for businesses. The program works for both entrepreneurs and the municipality.
The Youtyúk system helps to connect local producers and costumers. Their aim is to give a real opportunity for subsistence for country farmers while the costumers get real, happy and natural eggs. They would like to see the current situation change and more and more rural farmers / families have a real opportunity to have an honest job by producing truly healthy and high quality food (eggs from free-range, capricious hens, self-produced hens without hormones or antibiotics).

The town installed solar-powered compactor equipped Bigbelly bins. A sensor inside the bin activates the compactor when the rubbish gets to a certain level. Crushing the contents enables a Bigbelly bin to hold up to six times more waste than a standard rubbish bin. The bin sends real-time level data to a dashboard that lets contractors and city operational leaders know how full the bin is, and when it needs emptying.
An innovative solar pump was installed at the end of Kártya Street to drain excess rainwater. This street, as the deepest point of the Rózsavölgy suffered the most from the creek floods and rainfalls that flow there from everywhere. The road surface and sidewalk have been renovated from wall to wall, and for years the temporary sandbag protection has been replaced by a permanent defense.
The first connected smart public lighting system in Budapest can be found in Lechner Ödön alley (IXth district). In the pilot project, five street lighting poles with different functions were installed and connected. Besides of being capable of power-saving, brightness control, and remote control the lighting poles provide intelligent functionality, for example wireless service, video recording, emergency calling, electric vehicle charging, environmental sensors and programmable LED information screens.

They cooperate with local producers, farms and partners (such as Living Tisza). They also help the farmers and family businesses by paying the fair amount of cash immediately when they take over the locally grown food. They also provide vegetables and fruits from organic producers and humane farms.
