TransformCity (ZO!City) has collaborated with ModelMe 3D (Burton Hamfelt) to develop a demo for an online application called ‘Amstel 3D Pilot’. Parties both in and outside of the region can use the application to post initiatives for development into a 3D model of Amstel 3 area. For example: a beach volleyball tournament, parking space sharing or the redevelopment of an office building. This ICT tool will stimulate the development of such bottom-up initiatives and help create a strong community around them.

With simple set up and lots of great features, the GE Brand Plug-in Smart Switch allows you to wirelessly schedule and control any wired electrical device from your smartphone or tablet quickly and easily. Just plug a device into the Smart Switch and claim it with the Avi-on app and you now can control it with ON/OFF, scheduling, countdown timer, and sunrise/sunset functions. You can set and control every function from your phone or tablet utilizing the Avi-on app for iOS or Android.

Leviton's Omni automation system is the brain of your automated home and business, coordinating security, energy, and entertainment. Lights, temperatures, security, access control, and audio/video can be automated by time, date, day of week, as well as motion detection or door/window openings. The smart home, an initiative of BeNext, aims to achieve automated and sustainable living with domotics. BeNext has created the first intelligent home of Amsterdam, with the demohouse at Herengracht. In the Demohouse more than 60 domotics products control the house in the areas of Climate, Control, Energy, Safety and Security. With the heart of the system, the gateway, all electrical appliances can be controlled and the temperature in every room can be regulated. The Demohouse is fully protected, from security cameras to automatic door locks.

A wide range of products are constantly being developed to help us live ‘smarter’. In order to help consumers understand how these products work, IKEA in Amsterdam Zuidoost is working on a concept for a demonstration house. This house will be packed with smart products developed by IKEA, and potentially by other parties such as Liander and Waternet. These smart products are primarily focused on the fields of water, energy and waste. The demonstration house will introduce the smart products to the approximate 3,000,000 people who visit IKEA every year.

Giraffe Street Lamp is a very cute self-sustaining swing design that provides illumination at night. It harnesses kinetic energy each time you swing and as a double back up, utilizes the solar panel hood to soak some more energy goodness. It’s a very clever design that interweaves play and eco sense into the urban environment. Something that our future generation may as well get used to!

The European Innovation Partnership on Smart Cities and Communities (EIP-SCC) is an initiative supported by the European Commission bringing together cities, industry, SMEs, banks, research and other smart city actors.

The European Network of Living Labs (ENoLL) is the international federation of benchmarked Living Labs in Europe and worldwide. Founded in November 2006 under the auspices of the Finnish European Presidency, the network has grown in ‘waves’ up to this day. ENoLL counts today over 170 active Living Labs members worldwide (395 historically recognised over 9 years), including active members in 20 of the 28 EU Member States, 2 of the candidates and it is present in 5 continents in addition to Europe.
