Include smart benches in Hungary

Solar powered smart benches can be found in many Hungarian towns. Strong, powder-coated steel construction is completely weather-resistant and vandal-resistant. Advanced controller inside the bench makes battery charging possible even when the seating area is occupied and PV modules are shaded. The bench comes with two USB ports with ambient light for charging any type of device using USB cable. Wireless charger integrated in acrylic glass cover enables cable-free charging. The smart bench also provides Wi-Fi connection.

Baracs - Public safety system (Helpynet)

The village of Baracs using Helpynet application for smartphones. The HelpyNet is an emergency and call-in service: an app to keep in touch, so users can get or give information, as well as provide help. The alert and assistance system is available to the public free of charge and co-ordinates the work of the active organizations of the settlement. Its flexibility makes it easy to fit into existing public security systems.

Smart Public Lighting in Szank

Using state-of-the art equipment developed by Prolan Co., the first SMART CITY system in Hungary was implemented in Szank. The system is based on the public lighting network and it covers the whole settlement. It was the first time the company has applied its ECLIPSE SMART CITY system in such a location where the public lighting network is energized continuously 24 hours a day. The Smart City services built on the intelligent public lighting combined with the sensor techniques provide significant improvement of the quaility of life for the residents.

North Hegyhát Micro-Regional Union

The municipalities, economic parners, institutions and NGOs of the municipalities of Alsómocsolád, Bikal, Mágocs, Mekényes, Nagyhajmás decided in 2014 to work out a joint development program that would enable the synergistic development of the 5 settlements. The North Hegyhát Micro-Regional Union was born from this initiative, which main goal is to establish long-term and well-grounded cooperation between local governments, companies, institutions and organizations within the micro-region. Moreover, the Union intends to create the first "Smart Area" of Hungary.

Smart City developments - Tata

As part of the Digital Prosperity Program (Digitális Jólét Program - DJP) 2.0, Tata is also one of the pilot programs for smart city developments. The city already reached the folllowing achievements: installation of electric car chargers, modernization of public lighting (LED lights), installation of EON rechargeable consumers, various smart tourism solutions (thematic walks or attractions with QR code) and energy upgrades in schools.

PocketGuide tour guide application

PocketGuide is the first application that works automatically and guides the user through the city by voice, just like a real tour guide. No more fiddling with small text on the screen! Throughout the tour users can record their experiences (photos, videos, personal commentary...etc) and, with just one click, create an amazing 3D video. Once  the tour is downloaded, the application can work in offline mode so there is no need to pay roaming charges. It has tours in more than 150 cities worldwide.

Denver Urbanism

DenverUrbanism provides news, ideas, and commentary about urbanism in Denver and advocates a progressive pro-urban agenda for the Mile High City. DenverUrbanism was launched in late 2010 as a companion blog to the DenverInfill website and blog created in 2004 by Ken Schroeppel, an urban planner who lives and works in Downtown Denver (see the Contributors page for Ken’s bio).

Solarway smart crosswalks

Pearl Enterprises Ltd. aims to achieve safe transport. With the products of the LightMark series (mostly the S2X), they have found the best lane and warning signs: the light. The system protects pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists. By using this product, road users will immediately recognize that a pedestrian crossing or the reached a cycle path.
With the flashing function, it can be used as an active safety sign at crosses or crosswalks, which  can drastically reduce reaction time, which is a prerequisite of safe traffic.
