Toilet Finder (public toilets search)

The application “Where are the toilets?” is participative: everyone can signal the presence of new toilets or the disappearance of old ones. Whatever the town or country, the application has the addresses of more than 70 000 public toilets and therefore represents the largest toilet database in the world! The application also has a fun aspect. It allows users to share photos of the most unusual toilets encountered during their travels. The application is available on iOS and Android.

Zaragoza Citizen Card

The Zaragoza Citizen Card is about the active involvement of citizens in Zaragoza in addressing societal challenges in the city. The Zaragoza Citizen Card is a smart card offering citizens the opportunity to access and pay for 20 local public services (transport, parking, public libraries, swimming pools, etc.) To date, over 230,000 citizens (more than half of the city’s adult population) have applied for the card, which is helping to reinforce the sense of community. With payment processing services included, holders of the Citizen Card can even choose between prepaid and post-paid plans.

Longyan Smart Hospital: Secure, Efficient and Green

Amazon GO

Amazon Go is a new kind of store with no lines and no checkout. Customers simply use the Amazon Go app to enter the store, take what they want from the selection of fresh, delicious meals and grocery essentials, and go. The checkout-free shopping experience is made possible by our Just Walk Out Technology, which automatically detects when products are taken from or returned to the shelves and keeps track of them in a virtual cart. When somebody is done shopping, he/she can just leave the store. Shortly after, the Amazon account will be charged and the receipt will be sent.

Leak Notification Program

The Leak Notification Program is a new initiative that allows New York City Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) to proactively alert customers to potential water leaks on their property. The program gives customers the opportunity to sign up online to receive email notifications when their water use increases significantly over a period of several days, enabling homeowners to quickly respond to potential leaks and fix them before they become a serious billing problem.

PetaJakarta

PetaJakarta.org is a research project led by the SMART Infrastructure Facility, in collaboration with the Jakarta Emergency Management Agency (BPBD DKI Jakarta) and Twitter Inc. The Joint Pilot Study for the project was operationally active from December 2014 to March 2015, and PetaJakarta 2.0 launched in December 2015. During this time, the project enabled Jakarta’s citizens to report the locations of flood events using social media network Twitter, thereby contributing to a publicly-accessible real-time map of flood conditions at PetaJakarta.org.

Seniortab

The Seniortab is a device, which helps seniors to easily access the online world. Like everyone else, they should be able to communicate, inform themselves and entertain themselves on the internet. About 800 000 persons above 65 are not yet online in Austria, and for those who are, it is getting harder and harder. Therefor a user-friendly and application was developed and rounded out with an intuitive interface. The application is specifically designed for elderly people: it is easy to handle and you can shut down the app with just one click.

Wheelmap

Wheelmap is a map for finding wheelchair accessible places. The map works similiar to Wikipedia: anyone can contribute and mark public places around the world according to their wheelchair accessibility. The criteria for marking places is based on a simple traffic light system: Green = Fully wheelchair accessible, Yellow = Partly wheelchair accessible, Red = Not wheelchair accessible, Grey=Unknown. Places that are not yet marked according to their wheelchair accessibility have a grey marker. They can be marked by anybody quickly and easily.

Drone as a Service - Agricultural Drone Use

T-Systems Hungary is currently developing a technology solution package based on aerial photography used in agriculture as part of its 'Drone as a Service' project. This aims to offer data and information gained from remote sensing as management support for farmers. A pilot project of the program looked at hatching rates of a 100 hectar rapeseed field. The technical concept includes drone-recorded images uploaded to a cloud database, where their pre-processing includes quasi-automatic image corrections, assembly and positioning on a map.
