Program of the Directorate General for Administration and Public Employment during the COVID-19 epidemic

Following a state of emergency declaration, the Portuguese Government has put in place several measures of a temporary and exceptional nature aiming at containing the spread of the COVID-19 virus while maintaining, as far as possible, the operability of the public entities to ensure the continuity of public services’ provision. It is important to clarify that the measures adopted by DGAEP, as a public body, reflect the political guidelines embodied in various pieces of legislation published in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Bank of Montreal supports working from home

The Bank employed about 45.000 people as of the 31st of January 2020, of which only 5 per cent of the workforce was working remotely before the COVID-19 crisis. The COVID-19 pandemic prompted the bank to make a sweeping reappraisal of its workplace policies. It anticipated that as much as 80 per cent of its staff - about 36.000 employees - may adopt new flexible working arrangements that blend working from home with going into the office even after the pandemic subsides.

Busticket for squats

A new type of ticket vending machine was built at one of the bus stops in Cluj-Napoca. Anyone who does 20 squats in one minute can get a valid bus ticket for free.

The squats are monitored by a built-in camera system, and the countdown can be followed on the screen.

The action is part of the “Ticket of Health” campaign, which is backed by a sports festival.

Dear Employee platform

Dear Employee is a mental health platform which supports companies with a "CoronaCare Survey" designed to help master this challenging pandemic safely and healthily.
It helps employers to verify employees' current psychological stress and define the most effective measures to be implemented for employees' health.

Disinfection with drones

Karimnagar Municipal Corporation in Telangana has deployed the costumized Marut Drones for spraying disinfectants in Mukarumpur area of Karimnagar where people were tested positive for COVID-19. Disinfectants were also sprayed at district collaborate, municipal coorporation, district hospital, bus stations and markets.

CoVER platform

CoVER (COVID-19 emergency response platform) is an integrated command and control centre for crisis management.
CoVER leverages artificial intelligence (AI) to power its predictive analytics engine to crunch the data from the outbreak, analyze and visualize it to identify and highlight important patterns and trends to predict the next breakout areas so that appropriate prevention strategies can be actioned.

Road ID bracelet

Road Id bracelets were invented for people who are usually playing sports alone (e.g., running, biking, riding, climbing a wall, walking a dog). Customers can request different information on the labels: medical history, allergies, contact information, etc., so it can be easier to reach relatives and facilitate medical care in various accidents. Labels can be easily applied to different types of smart bracelets, or even shoes, animal collars. Their mission is two-fold: One, to educate outdoor enthusiasts about the importance of wearing ID.

Smart sewer project detects virus outbreaks

The initial findings of an Israeli pilot project aimed at detecting outbreaks of Covid-19 by identifying traces of the coronavirus in the municipal sewage system have been released.

According to smart wastewater big data solutions firm Kando, preliminary results demonstrate the technology’s ability to pinpoint specifically affected neighbourhoods and hotspots. The idea is that it would provide authorities early-warning for outbreaks and data to limit isolation of areas and lockdowns – even to city street level.

AiT desks

AiT smart tables are the uniquely designed products of the Hungarian startup, which can be controlled with a mobile phone, are also suitable for sitting or standing work, and which serve the purposes of maintaining health. The main novelty of the product, which is equipped with hydraulic moving mechanics, is that its height can be controlled with a smartphone application, so it is suitable for both sitting and standing work.
