Lenovo Lecoo cashier-less store

Lenovo’s entirely automated store, Lenovo Lecoo Unmanned Store, which launched at Lenovo’s new Beijing campus. Shopping at the store is quite simple. You walk up to the door, cameras recognize your face, you browse the aisles, pick out what you want as usual, then—and here’s the magic—you just walk out, and your account is automatically settled via your mobile payment.

The story of Baltimore’s McKeldin Fountain is an example of the escalating privatization of public spaces world-wide. In addition to being popular among local workers, tourists and residents from all over the City, the site is at a highly visible intersection in downtown Baltimore. This lead to the Square becoming an important site for protests, including Occupy Baltimore and Peoples Power Assembly. In 2013 the ACLU, on behalf of the Women In Black, won a civil suit naming McKeldin Square a model Free Speech Zone for Baltimore City’s public parks and Inner Habor.

South Saad Al-Abdullah New Town in Kuwait

In designing the city of the future, why not start building one from scratch, instead of dealing with the legacy of an ‘unsmart city’. And why not copy a smart city that is already in operation successfully. That is what Kuwait thought when it hired a South Korean consortium to build Kuwaits newest smart city from scratch. A four billion dollar project. The name of the city will be South Saad Al-Abdullah and will provide accommodations for between 25,000 — 40,000 families.

Smart Elderly Alert System

Sensors are placed in the flat to help monitor the movements of the elderly, and caregivers will be alerted if any irregular movements are detected (e.g. if no movements are detected for a period of time).
In April 2016, residents from some 3,200 households in Yuhua estate were eligible to participate in a trial to use smart devices in their homes.
The trial ensured that the method is non-intrusive, non-contact and low cost methodology, and provides timely alerts.

OneService App

The OneService mobile app adopts an issue-based approach where reported cases will be routed to relevant agencies in a more efficient and coordinated manner. It is a convenient way for members of the public to give their feedback on municipal issues, without having to find out which agency is responsible for the issue!

Automated Meter Reading (AMR) Trial

PUB, Singapore’s National Water Agency, is rolling out the first phase of Smart Water Meter Programme in Singapore. This will see the installation of 300,000 smart water meters in new and existing residential, commercial and industrial premises by 2023. The Smart Water Meters are designed to monitor and collect water consumption data. This will enable PUB to provide consumers with value-added services through a mobile customer app, such as understanding their water usage, and alerting households of suspected water leaks.

Exploring Prague with a new 3D model application

IPR Prague released an application which helps to explore Prague in 3D from anywhere. Unlike Googlemaps and other programs, the application provides a wide range of detailed information about every building. The 3D model includes data on more than 200,000 buildings throughout the city. The application allows you to search by address; once an address is entered, the specified building is automatically highlighted on the map.

Smart apartment building

The Project will provide a new, multi-utility measuring system for selected buildings owned by the Capital of Prague. The system will provide complete and continuous measurements of the used energies, thus creating conditions for a flawless consumption monitoring of all energies in the given building. The customers will thus be able to always monitor their respective consumption on the web portal of PREměření.

Budafok-Tétény - Faultreporting app

The purpose of Budafok-Tétény's mobile app is to engage citizens in the care of local areas and increase satisfaction. With this app, district residents can easily report bugs in the public spaces. The announcement goes straight to the mayor's office and users can track the progress of their announcements: they are automatically notified when the announcement changes. Resolved notifications can be seen by everyone.
