edX (digital education platform)

T-City Kids study group

A study group called "T-city Kids" has a dual purpose. Firstly intends to expand ICT skills among 10 to 14 and later 15 to 18 year olds. On the other hand describes the t-city world and introduces available innovation programs implemented in the country to young generation. The twice a year held t-city kids group participants are pupils from Szolnok and nearby primary schools. They have the opportunity to get know the safe and ethical internet surfing (Netiquette), proper behavior and ICT trends by participating interactive presentations and games.

City-Zen serious game for youth

As part of the European project City-zen, a Serious Game is being developed by UK Partner Clicks and Links that is to be deployed in the city of Grenoble as well as Amsterdam Nieuw-West. The goal is to engage youths in these cities to save energy by raising awareness and changing behaviour through the familiar medium of gaming. Gaming tends to have a bit of a negative reputation, but consider the opportunity of leveraging the following traits for a positive objective, such as saving energy. Games are addictive, fun and engaging which means that they can be great tools for education.

Eco Friendly Playground of Margaret Island

The first playground in Hungary that is specifically aimed at environmental education and sustainability was installed at Margitsziget, Budapest. The eco-playground is also the first to achieve approved rating in the Green city Sustainability Accreditation System and is officially accredited. The concept of the eco-playground reflects the idea of environmentally conscious lifestyle, while also respecting usability and maintenance conditions, and the fact that the playground is built in one of the most intensively used public park of the capital, with an expected high stress load.

Smart Studios Coding/Media School

The Mission of the Smart Studios is to be the essential stepping stone to children’s digital development. Their courses fosters their cognitive, social, emotional and creative needs while providing an environment full of enriching tools and materials where children can play while they learn and learn while they play. Their focus is to instill curiosity, imagination, and creativity in every child as they are the future. Kids can choose from many courses like Coding, AppInventor, YouTube, Minecraft, etc.

Nieuw-West Living Lab

The district of Nieuw-West is a solid demographical representation of Amsterdam and an area with high energy consumption. Notably, however, the area is home to the first district-level Smart Grid in the Netherlands. Amsterdam Smart City partner Liander has invested significantly in this technology in recent years. The Smart Grid in Nieuw-West serves as the ideal backbone to realise new renewable energy sources, with decentralised energy generation taking the lead role.

Ijburg Living Lab

The emerging neighbourhood of IJburg is Amsterdam’s youngest district. It was only in the late 1990s that the decision was made to reclaim land and start construction of the neighbourhood. IJburg has been developed with a relatively high number of houses that are suitable for families, meaning the overall population is notably young. IJburg residents also have access to the fastest public fibre optic broadband internet in the world: up and down speeds of 500Mb/s are possible on the network.

Between 2014 and 2017 district of Croydon examines and evaluates the effectiveness and ROI of the state and municipal services.

HospiEdu - hospital teaching program

The HospiEdu initiative helps children to effectively study when in hospital by transforming learning materials into a game. Children receiving long term hospital care face many challenges, such as how they can keep up with their classmates. HospiEdu supports the education of children receiving long term hospital care: we connect them with our student volunteers (under adult supervision) who provide them with tailor-made and gamified e-learning materials via www.e-studygroup.com.
