GrowSmarter

GrowSmarter

In a rapidly urbanising world cities need to become smarter to respond to citizen needs and to reduce their environmental footprint. GrowSmarter brings together cities and industry to integrate and demonstrate ‘12 smart city solutions’ in energy, infrastructure and transport, to provide other cities with valuable insights on how they work in practice and opportunities for replication.
The idea is to create a ready market for these smart solutions to support growth and the transition to a smart, sustainable Europe. The GrowSmarter project was one of three projects chosen from over 19 submissions to receive support from the European Commission’s in the first call for ‘Smart cities and communities’ under the Horizon 2020 funding stream. GrowSmarter kicked off on 1 January 2015 and will run until 31 December 2019. This project has received €25 million in funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme.
