Amsterdam Smart City

Amsterdam Smart City (ASC) is the innovation platform of the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area which is constantly challenging businesses, residents, the municipality and knowledge institutions to test innovative ideas & solutions for urban issues. This contributes to the liveability of the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area, promotes sustainable economic growth and helps develop new markets. ASC believes in a liveable city where people can live and work pleasantly. We are active in six different themes in which we bring together different organisations to start innovative projects together.

Songdo International Business District

New smart city or "ubiquitous city" built from scratch on 600 hectares of reclaimed land along Incheon's waterfront, 65 kilometres southwest of Seoul Embodies two avant-garde concepts: (1) the Aerotropolis, and (2) the Ubiquitous City (U-City). The largest private real estate development in the world’s history Songdo’s urban model bears several distinct features: its ubiquitous computing allows it to micro-manage numerous aspects of the city such as energy consumption and traffic; and the city can "interact" with citizens at the individual level.

New London development

In association with Estates Gazette and supported by Deloitte Real Estate and the Mayor of London, this NLA developed interactive map outlines development activity across the capital. The website currently features over 800 projects, acting as a resource for viewing all major developments in London. It features recently completed projects through to proposed future developments, and gives the ability to filter the status of the building, sector and area.

PICO (Tool Project for Innovative Communication and Design)

PICO - Tool Project for Innovative Communication and Design. Stakeholders still lack insights in the big picture about opportunities in residential areas to save energy and produce energy sustainably. It is unclear for municipalities, residents and other stakeholders which solutions are preferable, and what the costs and benefits amount to. However, this insight helps the coordination of policy; it makes residents and investors more aware and helps them focus on the future benefits of solutions, while reducing uncertainties.

Budget Monitoring

Budget Monitoring is a method that facilitates citizens to screen, assess, and actively participate in the decisions on public policy-making and government expenditure. It offers citizens the power, knowledge, and self-belief to take action for the right to live in better environments. The Center for Budgetmonitoring binds diverse community-led organizations, allowing valuable encounters among them as well as dialogue between citizens, organizations, and the government in mapping out problems and their solutions.

TeIR (National Regional Development and Spatial Planning Information System)

The territorial development and spatial planning are activities that have a significant impact on our environment and habitat. It is important that working on the development concepts, programs and settlement plans, and during political decision making progress must be exactly known the demographic, social, economic, environmental parameters. The data in sectors mentioned above are territorial aspects related.

The Open Knowledge Foundation

The Open Knowledge Foundation is a non-profit organisation founded in 2004 and dedicated to promoting open data and open content in all their forms – including government data, publicly funded research and public domain cultural content. The Foundation is an international leader in its field and has extensive experience in building tools and community around open material. Their software development work includes some of the most innovative and widely acclaimed projects in the area. For example, the CKAN project is the world’s leading open source data portal platform.
