Commonwealth Connect (non-emergency notification)

Commonwealth Connect, a state-wide program, allows residents to efficiently report and respond to non-emergency issues. The State of Massachusetts just released funding to extend the program to an additional 20 municipalities. The Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC) is overseeing the grant. Together citizens and governments have identified and repaired damaged public infrastructure, neighborhood blight and storm damage all over the Commonwealth.

Open311 (open protocol for location-based data service)

A collaborative model and open standard for civic issue tracking. Open311 is meant to facilitate an international effort to build open interoperable systems that allow citizens to more directly interact with their cities. Open311 is a form of technology that provides open channels of communication for issues that concern public space and public services. Primarily, Open311 refers to a standardized protocol for location-based collaborative issue-tracking.

And because we do this in ways that make obvious bottom-line sense, almost everything is about to change.

SpotNzoom intelligent camera system

The intelligent SportNzoom surveillance system in Budapest at Buda Castle was installed at the most highlighted points of the district for increasing traffic safety and to help preserving the built environment by enforcing to keep traffic rules.
A 150 m long section of the road is covered by five Box and PTZ camera pairs in Lanchid Street providing recordings sufficient for license plate recognition, while on Szentháromság Square, two pairs of cameras do the work for the whole area.

Zuidoost Living Lab

The Amsterdam district of Zuidoost (Southeast) is 22 km2 and is home to approximately 80,000 residents. Zuidoost is a remarkably green neighbourhood with the massive lake Gaasperplas and its surrounding forest as its centrepiece. There are also many other parks, sport parks, private garden allotments and a golf course. The urban core is centred on the Ajax ArenA football stadium, Amsterdam Poort and the newly-built Bijlmer train station which together has developed into a major shopping and entertainment zone complete with cinemas and concert halls.

Ijburg Living Lab

The emerging neighbourhood of IJburg is Amsterdam’s youngest district. It was only in the late 1990s that the decision was made to reclaim land and start construction of the neighbourhood. IJburg has been developed with a relatively high number of houses that are suitable for families, meaning the overall population is notably young. IJburg residents also have access to the fastest public fibre optic broadband internet in the world: up and down speeds of 500Mb/s are possible on the network.
